Week_13

Hi Everyone,

I think that Paragraph Punch tool is one of the most interesting tools.  Paragraph Punch tool actually helps the pupils to improve their writing and provide a scaffolding for writing. The tool is quite good because it can really help the pupil to write and think about the topic of his/her writing. So every teacher can  use it and  can create a writing lesson  and make the process of writing much more interesting and easy.

The second tool that I really liked it  is the QR tool. I found it very intersting and I used it with my pupils. It seems that they also loved it. I think that it is very useful tool.

Kind regards,
Dunia

Week_3_Donia Mwassi

Target audience: 3th grade

Tool I used: Crossword Puzzle Maker http://worksheets.theteacherscorner.net/make-your-own/crossword/

First of all, crossword solving involves several useful skills including vocabulary, reasoning, spelling, and word attack skills.  To solve any crossword puzzle, a person must be able to identify and understand the terms being used.  I found this tool very attractive for students that have to study vocabulary sets It's a great one which improves and enhances vocabulary skills in a very interactive and fun way! I think often involves acquiring new vocabulary or terminology.  It can also involve making differentiations between similar words or phrases.  Correctly deciphering a crossword also requires exact spelling, which for students may mean practicing dictionary skills.  Other important skills required for completing these puzzles include making inferences, evaluating choices, and drawing conclusions. Another benefit of using crossword puzzles in the classroom is that they are associated with recreation, and can be less intimidating for students as review tools.  Students who might normally balk at practice tests, flashcards, or review sessions with the teacher find puzzle solving to be much less threatening and more like game play.  Puzzle solving is a much more active type of learning, and will engage students with the material more than passive types of review techniques do. Crossword puzzles also have the advantage of appealing to different learning styles.  Visual learners often have strong puzzle-solving skills, and feel great satisfaction when they complete one. Finally, crossword puzzles have the benefit of being customizable to study content.

Using technology

Using technology to facilitate personalized learning is a great idea, but it is not without drawbacks.
While technology can be a great tool, nothing can replace the personal connection between a teacher and student.
The educational potential of iPad is manifested not only in the multitude of learning apps we use with our students in class to boost their academic achievement and enhance their comprehension, but also in the meta-learning possibilities it offers our students. There are now plenty of educational iPad apps designed specifically to assist students take control of their learning from effectively planning their school time to keeping track of their academic progress.

I think that I'll be able to use a few awesome apps which mentioned such as:

1. myHomework Student Planner (This is a great homework helper and student planner. It allows students to easily track their assignments and tests, organize their classes, receive reminders homework and many more).
2. inClass (his is another great iPad app students can use to organize their school life and stay on top of their homework and assignments).
3. ClassManager (‘The Best Homework / Class Organizer for your School life. Plan and Organize your Classes, Assignments, Tests, Paper submissions with the Best Homework Planner App).

I will try use those Apps and I think once we start using them pupils will never be late submitting thier assignments.

*to improve my learning knowledge and classroom learning through online mediums or learning through the use of a variety of educational software products.
